“eastonline” is the website of the eponymous magazine, set up in Italy in the spring of 2004 by a group of intellectuals, economists, journalists and business operators who share the idea of a united, democratic Europe based on solidarity and open to confrontation with the rest of the world.
east (an acronym that stands for Europe and Asia STrategies) tackles economic, political and cultural themes, focusing mainly on the 25-member EU and its relationships with Asia, particularly China and India.
Published by Baldini Castoldi Dalai and headed by Vittorio Borelli, the magazine’s backers include UniCredito Italiano, Arel (the research institute set up by Beniamino Andreatta) and Cittadinanzattiva, the citizens’ association led by Giovanni Moro. The scientific committee of the magazine is presided by Alessandro Profumo, CEO of UniCredit, and composed of Aldo Bonomi, Massimo Cacciari, Antonio Calabr˜, Ferruccio De Bortoli, Enrico Letta, Andrea Moneta, Giovanni Moro, Fabrizio Onida, Sergio Romano and Renato Ruggiero as well as the editor-in-chief, publisher Alessandro Dalai and editorial co-ordinator Giuseppe Scognamiglio, who is in charge of Foreign Institutional Relations at UniCredit.
The magazine is published five times a year in Italian and English. It is sold in Italy at newsstands, bookshops and via subscription. east is sent to selected political and institutional leaders, diplomats, intellectuals, business operators and journalists abroad.
